Guest Post: NRL Academy Inspires, Informs Pro-Life Students

applicationsgraphic-300x300 Our 2014 Academy student, Rebecca "Scout" Yarbrough, shares how her time at the Academy is better preparing her to defend life.  The National Right to Life convention in Louisville was the perfect introduction into the academy. It truly reminded me of why I want to be part of this incredible movement. The dynamic speakers at the conference challenged me to think about the life issues with a great in depth understanding and gave me perspective on many different subjects that I had not previously considered. The National Right to Life Academy equips students with the knowledge they need to defend life at all stages of development, from conception to natural death. The extensive reading materials, lectures, and seminars have already made me feel more prepared to speak about these sobering issues with others. The challenging practicum sessions provide the students with the skills they need to articulate these principles not only in everyday situations, but especially in those such as lobbying, media interviews, and even press conference settings. I now have a more in-depth understanding of euthanasia, assisted suicide, and abortion that will continue to expand for the rest of my life. This experience has had a profound effect on the way I viewed the pro-life movement. I know I will leave DC more prepared than ever to come back to North Carolina and defend life for those who cannot defend it themselves. I am looking forward to helping out with Camp Joshua next summer and help educate young and old on all of the life issues. We must bring more awareness to our community about the culture of death and work to transform it into a culture of LIFE.
